1/2” vs. 3/4” Manifold Hose Reels: What’s the Difference?
When it comes to manifold hose reels in the pressure washing and soft wash industry, choosing the right inlet size can make a real difference in your system’s performance. Here’s a breakdown of when to use each:
1/2” Manifold Hose Reels are our go-to choice for most pressure washing and 12V soft wash pump applications. They handle the flow demands of these systems perfectly well while keeping your setup streamlined and efficient. For the vast majority of residential and commercial soft wash work powered by a 12V pump, a 1/2” manifold is all you need.
3/4” Manifold Hose Reels come into their own when higher flow rates are required. If you’re running a gas-powered soft wash system, the increased volume those pumps produce makes a 3/4” manifold a smart upgrade — it allows the system to breathe and flow the way it was designed to. We also prefer 3/4” manifolds for garden hose reels feeding into a buffer tank, where that extra flow capacity helps fill your tank faster and keeps up with demand.
In short: 1/2” for most pressure washing and 12V soft wash setups, 3/4” when you need higher flow — whether that’s a gas soft wash system or a garden hose reel supplying your buffer tank.
