How To Use Soft Wash Metering Mixing Valves
Proportioner mixing valves are vital for achieving precise dilution ratios when applying cleaning solutions across various tasks. Here's a step-by-step guide to effectively utilize these valves.

1. Identify the Desired Mix Ratio
Begin by determining the appropriate mix ratio for your cleaning project. For general house washing, a common mix is 100% water, 25% Sodium Hypochlorite (SH), and 10% soap (when applicable). Keep in mind that different proportioner models may have varying settings for these ratios.
2. Adjust the Proportioner Valve Settings
Set the dials or knobs on the proportioner valve to the corresponding numbers for water, SH, and soap based on your desired mix ratio. Make sure to securely tighten the valve after adjustments to prevent leaks.
3. Roof Cleaning Mix
For roof cleaning tasks, the standard mix ratio shifts to 100% water, 80% SH, and 20% soap. If you encounter stubborn stains, consider increasing the SH concentration to 100%. For cases where stains are particularly tenacious, turn off the water valve and set the SH to 100%.
4. Flushing the System
To prevent residue or build-up after using the proportioner, it's essential to flush the system. We recommend employing a 3-way ball valve system, such as those available on our rigs. Simply set the 3-way ball valve to “Water” and let the softwash proportioner and hoses run with water for 5-10 minutes, ensuring that all SH is thoroughly rinsed from the system.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can effectively use proportioner mixing valves to achieve the precise mix ratios necessary for your cleaning projects. Always consult the manufacturer’s instructions and recommended settings specific to your proportioner model for optimal results.
Final notes
After the bleach is out of the lines on the rinse cycle, put the gun into the top of the tank and allow the water to run and cycle through the buffer tank. This gives your system a full extended rinse and prolongs the life of the soft wash system.
